September 20, 2007

I figured with my first post that I would talk about one of the games that my wife and I went to in our first year of marriage. Tasha and I were married on July 21, 2007. This was our first ballgame together as a married couple, and we were excited to go. We had gotten tickets in section 401, about halfway up the section. It was a beautiful night, and all the way up there you could see the glittering gold dome of the Georgia State Capitol without any problems. The only problem was that Tasha is deathly afraid of heights, and being in such steep seats was not her idea of fun. Since we had arrived at the stadium so early, we decided to explore a bit.

The original 'Georgia Dome'.

Also, note no cow.

Who remembers that the Braves were on 94.9 for a while? Or that they were on 640 back in 2007. By the way, I'm not sure who's on the right, but on the left is Mark Lemke. This is pre-sound booth at Turner Field.
The pride of Kennesaw State, Willie Harris.

While we were up at Skyfield, we were approached by a man with a small child. As he got closer, he asked us if we wanted his tickets. We kindly said no, we were good. He insisted that we take them since they were down on the 3B side. Since he was so nice to us and was leaving, we took them. Lo and behold, they were tickets for section 116, on the 12th row. By and far, these were the best tickets that we had ever gotten for a Braves game!

Row 12. Close enough to lose teeth if you don't see a foul ball coming!

Good ole Chipper.

Ben Sheets. He did wave to some fans, and generally seemed interested in the game. I had to go and look up how he did that season (he obviously wasn't pitching that night). He hurt his hamstring in August and missed the rest of the season. Who would have thought that he would be a Brave one day?

I had to jog my memory of the actual game, of which I can only remember that Jeff Bennett started and was spectacular. It was likely the best start of his career, as he ended up spiraling down and eventually out of the league because of his demeanor and hot-headedness. As you can see, Chipper was still playing, and playing great.

Braves won this game 3-1, and I got a great shot of Turner Field as I was leaving.

Braves win! By the way, check out the time of the game. Fast game, wasn't it?

 Hammerin' Hank.

Turner Field at night.

It was a wonderful game. I hope that you've enjoyed the trip down memory lane.
